NHS National Cancer Director Launches New Software Tool to Improve Cancer Treatment
Concentra has been a major force in the creation of a vital decision support tool helping improve cancer treatment in the UK and addressing the Government’s vision for World Class Commissioning. The Cancer Commissioning Toolkit (CCT) aids cancer ‘networks’ (regional teams in the NHS and affiliated organisations) get data on the best new treatments, benchmark their performance and share vital information.
CCT and the supporting Cancer Commissioning Guidance have both been developed to support NHS Primary Care Trusts commissioners and cancer networks teams. However the toolkit is also of interest to Trust Cancer leads, clinicians involved in cancer, public health specialists and information analysts amongst others.
Prof. Mike Richards, National Cancer Director says: “The Cancer Reform Strategy identified better information and stronger commissioning as two of the key drivers to achieve our goal that cancer services in this country should be amongst the best in the world. The launch of this Cancer Commissioning Toolkit represents a major step forward in relation to both of these drivers for quality improvement.”
